Wok Diary - June events

QV Hotham Lodge

The winter chills have well and truly arrived in Melbourne, but from now until June 30 you can warm up at QV Hotham Lodge, right in the middle of the ground level courtyard at QV Melbourne.

Step into Hotham Lodge and it's easy to imagine you're in a ski lodge at Mt Hotham, complete with ``snow'' and warming winter food and drinks.

There are food tastings galore, alpine style hot chocolate, fashion shows curated by stylist Philip Boon, shoe decorating workshops by Melissa shoes and free pamper sessions and manicures on a wintry theme, complete with snowflakes, if you like!

I relaxed with a wonderful neck massage on opening night, followed by scrumptious chocolate tastings by Sisko chocolate, with nail art to follow.

Chocoholics can enjoy another chocolate hit at Flower Temple store and cafe where Sisko's head chocolatier Ian Burch has specially created a hot chocolate pod for only $5 (June only).

There are 100 heart-warming winter lunches to win each day inside the lodge. Simply SMS “COSY” to 0448 345 345 to enter the draw to win. For further information on the daily activities at the QV Hotham Lodge visit the website www.qv.com.au

Federation Square - The Light in Winter

Also on until June 30 is the Light in Winter festival at Federation Square.

This is Fed Square's annual celebration of light and enlightenment and the program encompasses the works of local and international artists, designers and multicultural communities with a series of ight-based artworks, community events and a mid-winter Solstice celebration.

The exhibition was opened by Kirra Galleries' director Peter Kolliner.

Kirra Gallery is always worth a look with its outstanding array of glass art, sculptures and accessories.

President Bill Clinton was so impressed when he visited that he bought a number of artworks from Kirra.
