Buddha's birthday at Dandelion
Why not celebrate a birthday party with a difference at Dandelion in Elwood?
To help celebrate the birthday of Buddha, Dandelion will present a special menu for the mind, body and spirit on Wednesday, May 14.
The evening will include a water blessing by the monks from Wat Dhammarangsee, Melbourne’s oldest Buddhist temple.
The vegan menu is exciting, inspired by Buddhist cuisine of Hue, in keeping with the general Buddhist precept of ahimsa - non-violence.
It will be Dandelion's take on dishes traditionally prepared for Buddha’s Day celebration.
The 2014 Buddha’s Birthday menu will showcase:
Chilled fresh pea soup with mint and nasturtium
Teamed with NV Holly’s Garden Sparkling King Valley Victoria
Crispy turmeric pancake, salted coconut cream, "prawn’ tempeh," with garden herbs and lettuce
2012 Seresin “Biodynamic” Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough NZ
Sweet corn and water chestnut dumpling with rice noodle salad and hoisin
2012 Stift Goettwig Gruner Veltliner Messwein, Kremstal
Winter melon stuffed with tofu and Bo Bo (Vietnamese Barley) braised in soy

Mock duck braised with coconut, palm heart, jimica salad with ginger chili dressing and tea oil served with crispy rice paper

We will offer a wine flight paired with the menu featuring bio-dynamic or organic wines for $50. (note: wines may be with or without certification, however our winemakers are committed to organic and bio-dynamic practices.)
